Yvonne Lempens

For over 40 years now I have been involved in Art , exhibiting in various venues as well as judging at shows .

Having been born in the Riverland and lived there most of my life I have a passion for anything Country . eg. river and country scenes , flowers and birds . Sometimes expanding to sea scenes and European topics , as a result of holidays over the years .

I work predominantly in Acrylic and Watercolour with emphases on light and tonal values . I am always looking for new techniques to include in my work . As a result I have recently added Acrylic Ink to my repertoire and am enjoying the challenge .

My ultimate reward and pleasure has come from the Art Group that I have conducted over the last 30 years , giving me a continued passion in retirement.

Sev Johnson

I am a self taught collage artist who “paints with paper”. I was born and raised in Renmark and following an absence of 22 years, my husband and I returned to Renmark in 2022, the place we now call home.

I have been creating collages since 2017 after being amazed and inspired by the collage works of many talented artists around the globe depicted online. At that time I was seeking a new creative outlet and realised I had all the items (paper, glue and a surface) at home that I needed to give this art form a try.

For many people collage is something that they tried in art class at school and have not thought of since then. I used to be one of them. Collage is truly an addictive activity and one that I found very versatile and absorbing. Consequently, 8 years later I am still madly gluing (for playing “stick-up”) and creating.

My collages are created from torn scraps of paper and glue. Scissors are not used thereby making the process more challenging as I strive to find the right images to create the look I want. Paper sources I use range from magazines, newspapers, catalogues and leaflets, wrapping and tissue papers, even paper dollies where they suit. Layering is a necessary part of the process I follow to achieve the look and colour I need. My preferred surface is stretched canvas, however collage can be created on many other surfaces (cardboard, wood and glass too).

So far I have exhibited my work in Tasmania (Burnie and Hobart) and at various sites in the Riverland. I enjoy depicting a variety of colourful images including still life, landscapes and other natural wonders and have been delighted by the interest they have attracted.

I truly hope you enjoy what you see.
